October 15th Sol Rising “Sunrise over camp”

I started the Sol Rising series as a prayer. I dedicated my morning sunrise painting to a friend who was sitting vigil with her dying mother. Sol is the Spanish word for sun, and it is a homonym for soul. My strokes hold my prayers.I paint the sky because it is beautiful. I paint the sky to be present. I paint the sky to mark the days. Perhaps one of these paintings will speak to you, because of the art, or because you want to mark a special date in your life.
